Aunt K’s Place is a transitional living environment that services clients in numerous ways. Upon potential discharge from the hospital or transfer from another facility, each client is interviewed to ensure that we can provide services that are suitable for their pre-existing lifestyle. After a client is approved, we provide transportation from their previous environment to our facility.
AKP has developed a very successful Skills Acquisition Program (SAP). While in our care clients are given hands-on experience in basic life skills consisting of but not limited to household maintenance, personal hygiene, balancing individual medication schedules, basic cooking skills, self-control, teamwork, submission to authority, problem solving, time and possessions management, money management, and personal decision making.
We intend to stabilize our clients by implementing a consistent medication, meal and sleep schedule that is enforced daily. Some leeway for unsupervised personal time is earned as a weekend incentive or reward including walks to the store and late night curfews just to name a few. This gives the clients an appreciation for regiment and a respect for personal time and materials management.
Our primary goal is to educate our clients in all of the aforementioned areas and eventually transition them back in to an independent instead of co-dependent lifestyle. Secondly, we expect all of our clients to remain out of the hospital by providing them with consistent quality service within our facility. Therefore AKP is “Home Sweet Home” and a safe-haven for many of our clients. However, we are convinced that the Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) that we have implemented will allow them to someday create a “Home Sweet Home” of their very own.
Everyone needs a place to call "Home Sweet Home"
